Wind in Texas!!!!!

Seems like the 'bomb cyclone' we had come through Colorado a couple of days ago. Definitely wouldn't want to be a semi driver during intense winds, Wyoming is know to have extremely windy weather and related highway accidents.

Those high winds passed through our area yesterday, and caused a lot of downed trees and power outages all over the state....but nothing like what Colorado experienced. Today seems like a "transition" day, then the forecast shows much nicer weather coming during the next week...hopefully.

That is quite a video Ken. It's been windy on the SE coast in Texas too, but nothing that would tip a semi over though. I don't think.

My son, in a Denver Colorado suburb, opened his car door when he got to work Wednesday afternoon, and bashed in the passenger door of a car next to him!! If that car hadn't been there, it might have torn his door right off. He was totally shocked in the force of that wind..
Insurance companies are busy for sure.

I had some nasty experiences with wind while landing in places such as; Denver, Dallas, Oklahoma City and Kansas City. Denver and Dallas have both sometimes proven to be challenging.

If anything makes a pilot grow up in a hurry, it’s high winds when landing.

The Texas panhandle is covered with windfarms now, and this video shows just why. We've driven through the panhandle a few times, and let me tell you, you can see weather coming miles and miles away. We've driven through torrential rains, and seen the aftermath of tornadoes. I'm hoping to see Palo Duro canyon once again, but other than that, I'm happy not to venture into the panhandle.

Imagine living wihtout our present day technology that gives us a warning of coming storms.
Weatherbug alerts are the best fmdog44....we've had really strong winds at least once a week thru the whole winter in Virginia....but call me crazy, I just luv the sound and motion of it....dont even mind being outside getting my hair messed up....wouldn't wanna be in that Texas windstorm tho....reminds me of the Wizard of Oz tornado...:eek:nthego:
