Windows 10 & 11 S Mode

I came across this the other day & had no idea it even existed. It typically comes preinstalled on cheap computers from places like Walmart limiting your ability to control your own computer, requires a Microsoft account and only runs apps from the Microsoft store.

Wow, that would mean most of my software would not even work.

Anyway, this clip explains more about it & most important how to disable it if you bought a computer with it enabled.

I bought a Gateway computer from Walmart in Nov. of 2022. It was new and I paid $239.
My system is has Windows 11 Home version - NOT S Mode

If you buy a new machine with 'S' mode, I gather you can upgrade it to normal mode, but you can't go the other way. I wish I had done this on my Dell, but it doesn't matter too much as I almost exclusively use Linux. If you want to have a machine with Dual Boot, you have to load Windows first, so having also loaded Ubuntu on my machine, I can't mess around with windows. If I could, I'd load 'Classic Shell' and alter the registry to stop updates.
