Winter Olympics gets terrorist threat....

No biggie since I hardly watch those anymore...politics ,sponsors, terrorists just cant keep their hands off sports anymore.
When you go to any major sport event nowadays its like walking into a fortress.
Besides Al-Qaeda doesnt exist anymore says our President....ya sure.

I went to the Paralympics, and although security was tight....it was very discreet, and police etc tried very hard to make it low-key, and even entertaining.
however, this isn't Russia!

The Olympics aren't about the athletes anymore. It's all about politics and the "my country got more medals than your country" attitude.

If there is a terrorist attack the U.S. government will actually be thrilled because they can blame the Russians for letting it happen.

I think we as a country thought that, until the opening ceremony, which was political in itself.
however, after that, it turned into a fantastic, really friendly, experience. The Brits went to watch anything and anybody; you could meet athletes from all over the world in the food queues; and the whole month was fantastic!

It really cheered us up as a nation, and the feeling lived on for quite a time....

I completely agree.

It is such a shame that the Olympics has lost favor. I still enjoy some of the events, though. As for the terrorist threat? Russia!

Funny, I can't stand the ice skating or the ceremonies. I love the downhill skiing, speed skating, toboggan, luge and of course the ever popular CURLING!

There has to be some way that we get even a mention at the Winter Olympics.....

At least we had Apolo Ohno speed skating his way to glory. Maybe we can get a new event "Snow Swimming" so Phelps can blow the competition away...

Did you read her description.....10cm scar on her left cheek, a pronounced limp, and her left arm doesn't bend at the elbow.

I know this isn't funny.....but surely somebody can spot her?!

The scar can be covered with heavy make up and the arm with some clothing? But the limp might be hard to hide...maybe she was sitting in a car going thru the checkpoints ...don't know, but she got through their ring of steel or whatever they called it in Russia somehow.

I am eagerly awaiting the olympics. Love watching although I think it really isn't about sports any more, like someone else said. Still, I enjoy watching.

Rkunsaw..when it comes to the government, you might just be more of a cynic than I am. But, really do you think the "government" has actually stooped so low as to want lives lost so they can play a political blame game?...It's not that I would put it past them, but it's sad that our country has come to the point where citizens feel this way.
