I want to get Callie therapy certification. Part of it is a dog being easygoing around different people and different dogs. Callie is very easygoing with most people and he just loves other dogs. The problem is giving him more social experience. We have a local dog park that would be ideal for a play group.
I say play group because you do have to pick play friends carefully when you have a big strong dog. At the dog park he pretty much patrols the perimeter and keeps to himself. His ideal companion is an active slightly younger terrier of any gender. With most dogs he just sniffs and wags n' walks away.
Maybe a flyer in the announcement case? A group of humans that don't fear him and some new doggie friends. It's just hard when he looks so imposing. A genuine smile and tushy rub and he wiggles head to tail. But maybe I'll try a flyer with my email and explain I'd like to form a little social group to meet with our doggies a few times a week.
