WOLF: Words from a considered viewpoint

SAT
ANZAC day.
.
On 25 April 1915 Australian troops landed at Gallipoli in Turkey.
On the first anniversary of the landing, Anzac Day was observed around Australia and wherever Australian soldiers were posted.
Australians have commemorated the day ever since

Anzac Day - Wikipedia

It always takes me back to recall attending a concert at Machester's Apollo 'back in the day' when Folk songstress Joan Baez gave a poignant background to the song.
The song played acoustically of course was played simply and sombrely, to a silent, packed though respectful audience.
- followed upon completion by raptuous applause

Having friends from 'Down under' (along with a friend of my Dad's - from back in the days of WW unpleasantness) I know how much the date means to those who have lost Parents/Grandparents in armed conflicts.
- There is a remembrance service is scheduled at Manchester's Southern Cemetery tomorrow, where I'm sure; as is the norm that it will be well attended.
  • It's another reminder of the futility of warfare.
Methinks

SUN
A Sunny Sunday, and re-newed energy saw a time of Gardening duty.
With limited tools and an overgrown garden to attend to, it's down to one's personal toil of effort.

The outhouse/fixed shed area; full of several items placed inside "for future reference and consideration" needing a clear up... and out, I begin there.
Pieces of odd shapes of varied plastic and wood design, containers, nails, screws, paint along with my spade, fork, rake, pruners and electrical items, -all of which have (in time) have a 'one-time' use - trouble is, knowing when that time will be (often it is a couple of days after I have decided to throw said items away)
  • I make a start, - with rubbish bag in hand,
Then there is the overgrown nettles and shrubbery, - weeds having grown up and around the perimeter fencing, that need clearing out.
  • I make a start,- with pruners and gloves.
Then, there is the deadwood branches, some fallen and/or hanging from their original trees.
  • I make a start, - with secateurs to aid/assist.
And, various bits of litter/rubbish blown in on the wind.
  • I make a start, - soon filling up my little Green bag.
After a few hours effort in the warm sun allows a degree of progress made.
Though when I start to see the little yellow lights, the twinge of back spasm and touch of dizziness, I realise it's time to take a break.
- Which I take, though the rest up though welcome and comforting does have an effect - of stiffness and subsequent realisation, - of old (... er ) age.

It seems the results of last weeks 'bad weekend' is still an unresolved issue as the smashed glass window still remains.

- I guess the money in the bank is being kept for a.other (of Manchester's) rainy day/s.

What I do find; upon reaching the room I usually work in, is a degree of weekend office refurbishment -

1777313720048.png ..... Still, with only a book shelf and my desk intact the spartan look is about right for me

After setting up - I see that I have two rescheduled meetings today - Good job I am suitably prepared.
The Teams set up is all well and good, though the camera doesn't hide the truth and as well as; per common adage the adding of 10 pounds that the camera adds, largely due to lens distortion, it also shows of the once blond hair going Silver fox-like.

Meetings complete, I finish the day and return home for a well-earned tea and rest up.

TUES
It's WMD and the previous weeks' planning pays off witth a good turn out and restful observation of the event

International Workers Memorial Day ...
.....Manchester workers' memorial hi-res ...

Poetic Musical muse with sombre message and a roll call of those who passed whilst in employment.
The shortness of the time compared to the consequences of the actions never seems enough - but the thought is there, and the remembrance (sadly) necessary.
- It's a long day ,with time taken to attend the event meaning (along with travel time) sees an eight-hour day stretching to twelve.

So it;s a chippy tea and early -(er than normal) retirement to bed.

WED
It's 'Hump' day (those were the days  ) and news comes through that there's a move a-comin' - with my daughter's wish for a bigger house is on.
With a family of four grandchildren to accomodate - all growing up (in both age, ... and size!) it's needed.
- Time to do a bit of homework for Grandad as I get out the route planner.

According to Google maps (Street view) there are two buses which are quite near to the property
The 'Directions' from/to, tell me that it is a (albeit it a 50 mimute 'somewhat all around the houses) travel time - and so, another opportunity to give the ole O.A.P. Free Bus/Tram pass a run out - though in truth it'll probly br thr shorter 18 minute drive which is a better option.

As with all moves, it's a case of all hands on board to pack the loads of items (with many being of the "I forget I had that"), so to get thr job done, I'm thinking /going into work mode and organising mind-set
With a little bit of room at my house, I'm asked to assist in the temporary storage business ... though quickly realise I may have biten a bit more than I envisaged.
