And it's another split shift day as I need to get my car repaired
Body damage to the front passender wing caused by an inconsiderate and incompetent van driver reversing into my parked vehicle, and driven away.




Though it takes a good few hours, the work completed was excellent- and at a reasonable price too.

• It's a double win !

The down side (again lol) is that ny new car look I feel requires a Wash and Valet job.
(Probably just as well)

- The job done and work required completed, sees an early night, and quick to sleep nightime.

THURS
It's PDR (Personal Development Review) day at work.
The urgency after years of complancy by Management see a number of headless chicken-like activity by Supervisory mansgement looking to implement a process that had been neglected for far too long.

It's an intersting concept ... in theory, however the practiclities of advancement in career development for the organisation seem to be dependant on the willingness to walk the walk of ideology.
Furthermore given my age, I am somewhat bewildered at what 'Career opportunities' they have in mind for me ...

• So I play the game....

"At 66 years plus, in an ever-changing I.T. world of which was before my time at school, whilst willing to 'give it a go' I am unsure what I'll be doing/if I'll be hear in 6-12 months, time. I welcome your suggestions"

Then; following a Health and Safety meeting, I learn that there will be a Branch split, and an opportunity for me to do what I have a knack for - the organisational planning of an area of business; which though outside the remit of my current role, is however, within the greater scope of the greater ethos of the organisation itself - so I add ..

"Reading through the organsational plan, I see there is to be encouragement for educational development using the skills/experience previous which one has. I have learnt of an opprtunity whereas I can do so, so request authorisation in which to do so, Should this not be possible, then I reserve the right to advise Senior Management/ HR of the decision not to follow Policy directive"

So arrives a day when we in Manchester remembers.

Time is taken to mark the occasion, with represetatives from the organisation (some of which who responded to the incident on the day) were in attendance.
It was a sombre and respectful event - as it always is, with all forms of the Greater Manchester population and it's diversity.

The chores of housework completed and it's a suprising though welcome invitation frrom 'daughter number 2' for some liquid refreshment - well it would be rude not to take this up, and so off I go ... for social purposes of course.

She brings with her a familiiar though not for a while seen childhood friend of hers.
The catch-up conversation sees her tell me of her current employment status and her successful progression though the years that have passed.

• 'The girl done good'

There is the natural recall of singular incidents of note along with the dressing up / themed parties of/for various times.

SUN
It's the turm of 'daughter number 1' today to organise a social get together.
With the SUN in Sunday living up to it's name and the rising temperature means only thing ...

and

The Bar-B-Q cooked ny the Son-in-law is varied and up to its usual excellent standards and the little ones make the most of the Paddling pool, and after I ensure they get the appropriate Sun tan cream applied, .. they find the hose! and we all experience their kind thoughts to cool us all down

(Bank Holiday) MON
After a good deal of pleasure over the past couple of days, I am refreshed and have an early rising to continue my sorting out - today it's the out-house shed area.
I go through the Gardening, Decorating and other bits, and with the clearing of the physical comes the refreshing clearing of the mind too

There is a realisation that I should have done this a good time earlier, as the out-house is more akin to the abode that Johnathon Harker attended - according to the Bram Stoker tale.



I begin the progress - Clear, check, remove, clean, and return of items that are worth retaining.

Making good progress, I get to a point when the body gives the signs that it's time to stop.
Finishing off what I need to, I have an early bath, supper and wind down - though at least with a sense of achievement.

• Although it's taking a degree of time it's settling to have things in order.

TUES
HOT, HOT, HOT.
Temperatures soar in City, Town and Village

.....

It's not so bad if you have the time, but if have a job to dot, with little shade and dodgy air conditioning units, the hottest day of the year takes it's toil on the worker

The sand from the sky, brought upon the drift of wind settled on a number of cars makes them all look degraded, so I (amongst others) take myself - and my car to the Power Car wash; conviniently local.
I nip out during my refreshment period hoping to get a good job done - and was not disappointed
- The rinse down soap up and powerful jet wash are true to their name and after a hand rub down are all completed under the shade of cover and produce a fine result, and as I tell them - I feel next time I go for the full valet too.

I return to the heat of work, though having also nipping in for fresh attire, spend the rest - and longer day to be completed, with a thought of idea ...

... I'll get a ...

Armed with my small laptop fan - that I'd forgotten I had



I set off to work, and am pleased to note a slight cooling of the temperture though still utilise the mini-tool to good and relieved relief.

The workplace is still somewhat stiffling though we're all in the same boat so, one must "Keep Cool and Carry on".

Later on in the day I'm suprisingly happy to receive some news from our Coporate Comms unit.
Having provided them with a snippet of text recalling an event of some 30 years ago, - and of which I participated in.
I note the times before, at the time of incident and in the thereafter with a degree of clarity and experice of such
They ask if I can add mre to the article and if they can use it in media outlets and even in the organisation museum - and of which I am happy to do so.

It brings back some good memories (not so much of the dark incident itself, but moreover, the professionalism of service delivery, the unity of several key agencies, the compliance of the general public in such times and the of the willigness of putting one in harm's way to protect - and did so.

As a younger man with fitness to align with focus, these were different days - though the Camaraderie exhibitted at the time (and beyond) never leaves and friendships made at the time never fade.

With the symbol of Manchester defiance - still standing strong today.
