FGS..how ridiculous...

A 70-year-old Ugandan woman has given birth to twins after becoming pregnant through IVF treatment, the hospital where she received treatment said.

Safina Namukwaya became the oldest woman to give birth in Africa after she delivered a baby girl and boy on Wednesday afternoon, the Women's Hospital International and Fertility Centre in the Ugandan capital of Kampala said.

Medics at the hospital said the mother and her two babies are doing well after they were delivered via a caesarean.

I hope she has plenty of support and that there is someone willing to raise those two children in the future, should the mother not be able to.

It is difficult to understand the mindset of someone who would want IVF at that age or, of course, the thinking of the medical team which made it happen.

What!!!!!!!?

I don't remember all the details but many years ago, a woman gave birth in her sixties here in the U.S. Within a few months, she had left the country, leaving the babies behind with relatives because "it was just too hard on her". Ya think?

In the case of the women mentioned above, perhaps they really aren't that old? Birth certificates aren't always available in the less-developed countries. It could be a matter of wanting to be the oldest mother in the country for the notoriety and/or financial help received.

That's me, though, suspicious....

Being able to do something with extraordinary medical interventions doesn’t necessarily mean that you should. A 70-year-old new mother will be lucky to see her children graduate from school. Parenthood is demanding enough at more conventional ages…

It's a stunt. The child hopefully will be taken care of by the those that pushed the experiment.

Having kids too old isn't fair to them because the old parent will need just as much attention as the child. A parent should be raising a child not a child taking care of the parent.

I wonder why a 70 year old woman would want another kid, considering she had a kid , in vitro, in 2020. Also Uganda doesn't sound like the most stable nation, where there are great birth records for the 70(?) woman.

This is nothing but experiment to see if they could do it.... making this news is advertising for some other person who is older hoping to start again or have children they never had wonder how many others did not carry to term or had complications.... in their brave new world experiment.
Zero regard for children was thought about. even if she stays alive her kids from the age of being able to barely caring for themselves will become her caretaker....... and many of these "medical human experiments" are done in African nations.... my guess is no regulations and any money brought in made this travesty OK.

The medical group behind this are most likely banking on the idea in developed countries there will be a $$$$ market for such. ID them who paid for the treatment etc.... we might be surprised if the "news" followed the money.
