Woman climbs fence taunts a tiger at a New Jersey zoo

So sad when animals who are minding their own business are being provoked. Even sadder when an animal loses it's life because of some dumba$$ who does something so stupid.

Guess they will have to put up higher fences for the tigers protection now. I hope they find her & at least trespass her from ever visiting again.

My first thought too. If the tiger had attacked her it would have been put down.

The woman is fortunate not to have lost her arm; some who have performed similar stunts have done just that. It’s amazing how many fools think that posted rules don’t apply to themselves personally. Common sense alone should dictate proper behavior.. 🐅

Why do people do dumb things like this?! If a trained tiger will attack it's experienced trainer, what did she think a wild tiger might do? Like the gentleman in the video speculated...maybe she was on something.

The tiger weighs 500 pounds!

Here is another incident.

I remember an expression used around here, back in the '80s. "She was cruisin' for a bruisin'," except it would have been lacerations and tooth piercings, rather than a bruising.🙄
Ever hear of the woman who had a crush on a silverback gorilla kept in the local zoo? The lady would smile broadly at him while showing her front teeth and the silverback gorilla perceived it as a challenge. One day he managed to escape from his cage, saw her, and attacked. At the hospital, she said that she still considered him her darling.

IMHO, they one wrong was shot that night. I'll always stick up for the animal who has done nothing wrong ... they shouldn't loose their life because of some dumba$$.

I hope that POS was charged with everything they could.
The police departments should have animal tranquilizer guns at their disposal in order to avoid having to kill the animal, You could hear them asking if someone had a tranquilizer gun available.

BTW There is an even more infamous case involving a gorilla who was killed because he was considered a danger to the child who had fallen into his enclosure. No, he didn't attack the child. But he was handling him as roughly as he would a baby gorilla. They also feared that using a tranquiller gun might have caused gorilla to harm the child as a reflexive reaction.

@Radrook, I'm surprised that the zoo didn't have a tranquilizer gun available for emergencies 24-hours a day. Planning would have them in multiple locations locked up with ER-access only where they would be needed the most. At the very least, one should be available to the zoo security at any time. Security could have used it before the officer arrived or at a minimum had it on hand for officers when they got there.

I remember when that gorilla incident happened. Very sad the gorilla lost it's life because of another idiot. How high do you have to make barriers to keep people out? I'm on the side of the people who believe that the Mom was being irresponsible with her 3-year-old.

Several times I remember calls on "missing" tots. When deputies arrived, they learned that Mom &/or Dad wasn't watching the toddler who left the house & yard on their own & followed their nose around the neighborhood.

My Mom used a kids harness on my one older brother when he was a toddler because he would pull a Houdini-act. My parents knew they couldn't trust him, so they nipped it in the bud before something happened. Over the years, I've seen other parents do this & I always tried to tell them they are doing a smart thing.

Sorry, I digressed from the original topic.

True, kids do have a propensity to pull disappearing acts. My son did that repeatedly making my heart plunge into my roiling nervous acid-gurgling stomach each time.

He once disappeared from his mother's side at pharmacy, and casually sauntered approx. three long downtown city blocks to where I had been waiting in the car. Approx. fifteen minutes later, she showed up with blood-shot bulging eyes, palm of hand against her heaving chest, almost sobbing, and on the verge of passing out.

BTW
Ironically, as the gorilla was dragging the boy around, they say that the mother kept reassuring him not to worry because she was still right there.
