A woman in the United States has died of coronavirus after she refused the vaccine because of concerns over side effects, her family have said. Tricia Jones, 45, was a mother of two from the US state of Missouri and died on June 9 after contracting the highly-infectious Delta strain. Her mother Deborah Carmichael told local news station Fox 4 Ms Jones had been hesitant about getting the vaccine.

“She was afraid of the side effects, I think. You hear a lot of horror stories,” Ms Carmichael said.
 

This unfortunate event illustrates the dangers of living in an alternate reality — one that exists only in one's mind, although it was created predominantly by pundits and liars on cable news programs and various websites that promote crazy conspiracy theories and propaganda. It's sad that there are people who are so entranced by doctrines that have absolutely no basis in fact — especially when it comes to medical science — that it costs them their lives. Then again, their behavior can be explained by evolutionary science and natural selection, although it doesn't necessarily prevent people from reproducing, as evidenced by Tricia Jones who already has two children. There are always some who slip through the cracks in natural selection. Psychopaths are an example. Having a conscience and moral values helped us survive as a species, yet there are those who lack those attributes.

Shame on the fear mongers. We all have freedom of choice regarding our own health but we don't have the right to seek to influence others to our way of thinking when it comes to life and death issues.
