Word of the Day... étude

He sure was something.
I agree, I could listen to him for hours at a time, and do on many occasions.

Thank you posting this, Win.

Here is a favourite of mine of his, so haunting yet so beautiful. It's so deep and moving, the manner in which he plays, every key, every note, the timing, all so impeccably performed, as if nothing but the very best will do, yet I believe he played for himself, lost in the moment, oblivious to all around him.

 
Speaking of Etudes, here is one of the most difficult Etudes ever written - a Liszt Etude called "La Campanella." I've never been able to figure out how someone who is blind can play it:

I can't for the life of me figure out how anyone could play/learn it, blind or not. What a complicated and involved piece. o_O
