Decoct (verb) - extract the essence from something by heating or boiling it.

Most people have a decoction of coffee beans first thing in the morning.

My mom use to cover my head with a towel and have me breath in Vicks or Save the Baby in hot water to loosen congestion in my chest. It sure was a decoction of sorts.
