I don't think the definition of gastronome is that bad but the word itself is strange for lack of a better word. I think they could have come up with a better word to describe the definition. The word makes me think of having bad gas....

I agree Ruthanne. After I saw the word, I needed to take a couple of Tums.

I also thought the word, gastronome, sounds like it refers to some unusual type of gnomes.
Perhaps a gnome with a large stomach or big appetite, might be a gastronome?
