The old chocolate factory had been shuttered for decades, yet upon cracking the lock on the grand leaded glass entry doors, my olfactory receptors kicked in, supplying me with a sense of mouth-watering delight.
My olfactory memory is remarkable; a smell can take me back 50 some years sometimes to a different time and place. I find it interesting how we can be in 2021 and go back by smell to 1962!
I hear you, Silverfox. It makes my eyes water and might trigger asthma. My dad smoked a pipe and cigars, but not cigarettes. The pipe wasn't too bad - the cigars were asphyxiating.
