Word of the Day: Paresthesia

Paresthesia (noun) - refers to a burning or prickling sensation that is usually felt in the hands, arms, legs, or feet, but can also occur in other parts of the body. The sensation is described as tingling or numbness, skin crawling, or itching.

Sometimes people that sit for a long time get paresthesia in their legs.

After breaking a bone, the athlete felt paresthesia in his foot.

In the Winter I get paresthesia in my feet when my feet get very cold and I partially attribute it to diabetes. Other conditions, too, can also cause parasthesia.

I believe that I have had some paresthesia due to my medical conditions and it is most annoying at times.
