Word of the Day - Psephology

In the months running up to elections, experts acclaim and explain the accuracy of their psephology while forecasting elections. If the results differ from their predictions, they nearly always blame unexpectedly high or low voter turnout.

p.s. I did a little more research on this word and wondered why I'd never heard it before. Apparently it's often used in Britain and countries that lean heavily on British standard English while Americans tend to describe the process as "political analysis."

Psephology relies heavily on empirical data and the scientific method, i.e., the cyclic process of observation, research, hypothesis, experiment, analysis and conclusion.
