Word of the Day - Puffery...n.

Def.: Favorable and often exaggeratedly flattering publicity esp. for promotional purpose.

We all know 'em...the used car salesman..doing his Puffery act to sell a car.

Sometimes there's extreme puffery, by the commentators on TV,
about what might happen, and who the stars are;
simply to try to keep people watching their show or channel, during a boring and overly lengthy episode, or an already obviously decided competition.

Many guys on dating apps use so much puffery, it's annoying to say the least.

Peacocks strutting about tend to be a bit puffery though they can be beautiful....
