Repoussé (noun or adjective) - a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief.

I have some metal trays that are repoussé.

That's an interesting technique, and I like the effect it creates.

Is a repousse piece done completely by hand? Or, not?

Are they still being made?

Doing a bit of researching of repousse, I find that it dates far back in antiquity and all over the world.

Lots of variations in metals used and subject matter, and types of items.

Mine look like maybe the 1920s or 30's, but may be older or newer. I don't know much about it as I do Depression glass.

eBay usually just says "vintage" when I try to research an item. That's a BIG window.
