Word of the Day - Restive

Restive (adjective) - unable to keep still or silent and becoming increasingly difficult to control, especially because of impatience, dissatisfaction, or boredom.

The people in line to buy theater tickets for the popular production were becoming restive for having to wait so long.

It's odd how the word restive,
seems like it would mean the opposite to what it means. :unsure:

The definition above seemed to me, that it would go better with the word restless, than the word restive;

but the OP definition is correct! 😀 :geek::giggle::geek:;)

Restive rhymes with festive, :cool:

but those same people who might have been feeling festive,🤩
at the outset of getting into the queue, 😉

no longer felt festive, after the long wait times!:confused::cautious::(

Instead, they had all become irritable, agitated, and downright restive!o_O
:mad:😐😖
