Trencherman (noun) - a person that eats in a hearty manner; glutton.

One is likely to see many a trenchermen at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Hubby's grandfather was prime example of an old farmer type trencherman.
He could eat a full course dinner than sample each of the homemade pies.
Pumpkin pie topped with honey & whipped cream seemed his favorite.
