Heard on the news this morning........

Standing room only tickets for tonight's game are selling for $1000,00 each, and parking at a reasonably close lot is costing $150.00........$1,150.00 for one person to attend a game I wouldn't walk across the street to see.

And some folks wonder why they are in financial dire straits .

Apparently, some aren't

On the flip side of that is when your team is down by 8 or 10 runs in the late innings so you exit...'to beat the crowd'

If I was at a world series game, I'd stay 'til they tarped the field and the crowd left, taking it all in, bringing the hot dog wrapper with me, sniffing it on the way home.

That's how they can afford to pay those players those ridiculously high salaries.

I agree, Gary. I rather wait until almost everybody's left rather than be caught in those bottlenecks of traffic.

The smart ones see the game for peanuts.

Back in 1993, I payed $600.00 per ticket for my son and I to go watch the Blue Jays-Phillies W.S. game. As for parking, at that time, I did park reasonably close, but can't remember what I paid. It was like a one and done deal. My son and I are both Phillies fans and we missed the one in 1980, so I wanted to make this one. The whole thing turned out to be a nightmare.

IMO that is a-bit different. For you & your son it was an event together, & I suspect you could afford it. Some call it quality time.

Sorry it turned out to be a nightmare........care to share why ?

There is one advantage to seeing a baseball game in person, vs. watching it on TV......on TV, the closeups of the players and coaches show them constantly spitting....fans in the stadium are too far away to observe that "habit".

I am a Tampa Bay Bucs fan. With the Bucs, there is only a very slight chance they will win, compared to the overwhelming odds that they won't. So paying $1.50 over the stadium seat price is about right. But, if there is a team, which you feel in your heart is going to win, no matter what the odds are, then what ever it costs to be at the game is worth it. You have to be there sharing that win with thousands of other screaming fans. You have to put your money, where it counts. It's a matter of fan honor. If your team wins, you will always have that memory. Of course, if your team doesn't win.......................................................

Oh my, paying as much as that,
to STAND,
for ALL of those hours, leading up to the game start time, and through the long (multiple hours) of the game, and then walking back to vehicle, however far it is... and whether your preferred team wins or losses, effecting yours and your companions moods.

It seems WAY to much to spend.
However, I can see it, IF one can afford it, AND IF, it is one of those things you (and whoever goes with you) will remember your (and their) entire life.
Once in a rare while, something that creates a memory like that, is worth it. Again, only if you don't go without food or heat, to do it!

I personally would also find the noise too difficult, and the pushing, etc, of the crowds, though I do recall, there were times when it was fun to be in a big crowd of people who were enthusiastic about the same thing.

You think the ticket prices are expensive, how about the TV advertising prices at $1,000,000.00+ per minute?
