Would You Be Prepared?

If you had to shelter in place for a few weeks during an emergency situation such as an unprecedented storm (hurricane or snow storm) would you have enough food and water? Or are you one who would have to rush to the store to stock up ahead of warnings? I believe I have enough here for at least a month (or more if the electricity is still on).

I'd be okay for a few weeks with food, water and other supplies. We also have a generator, battery operated lanterns, propane stove, wood for fireplace, etc. Since we've done a lot of camping in the past, we have a lot of things that will help.

We'd last a month, no problem. Have a state of the art water filter, a pool that collects rainwater. We have lots of canned veggies, bottled water, too. Our generator would be fine for 2-3 hour runs, our camping lamps would light things up. In the RV, we've got self contained heat and AC, as long as the generator holds up.

I probably could with what I have on hand. I could live without things like milk or bread . With my big freezer, and a pretty well stocked pantry I would not starve.
I am editing this to add that I also have a supply of non food items such as shampoo and body wash and laundry supplies. And enough flashlights to go around!
and I have my books, tv and computer. Assuming we have power. Medication may be of concern though

I believe I could survive for about a month or so. I keep my pantry full. I have a deep freezer in my garage which I will be adding more meats. It's something about me and food.. I spend way too much money on food but that's what I do. Some people spend a lot on clothes, mine is food.

I am not on daily meds but that would be my concern if there was a flood/hurricane.... running out of meds. Depending on what I had on hand, I would cut in half if possible... or quarters.

We've lived in "tornado alley" for decades. When we lived in Wichita, KS., diving into the neighborhood tornado shelter was almost a expected routine, several times a year. Here, there hasn't been a tornado in decades, but that could change at any time. As a result, we have an area in the basement that is reinforced, and plenty of food, supplies, and a generator, etc. However, if we took a direct hit, who knows??? Nature can always upset the best of plans, so we just hope we continue to be lucky.

I’m normally quite well stocked up in case of illness but more so at the moment due to (dare I say the ‘B’ word)........Brexit ......which was supposed to happen end of October, I bought extra goods in case of shipping problems etc.

yes we have plenty of food----we had a bad ice storm here in georgia a few years ago--no electric my son in law cooked on the grill

Years with no problems. (y)
fresh water source (deep water spring)... generator... wood stove and ability to cook on top of it... LP gas heat with 250 gal tank
Always at least 15 gal. of gas and 20 gal of diesel on hand... bow saws for wood cutting... 2 chainsaws
abundant deer and wild turkey ... the ability to skin and butcher our own meat... lot's of sharp knives and axes
Cases and cases of dehydrated food, enough for 10 years at least... 2 motorhomes with generators and full tanks of fuel
560 watts of solar with 6 golf cart batteries and a 3000 watt inverter
bullet proof vests complete with ballistic plates... Multiple things that go bang
solar and crank and batt powered radio... lot's of candles and small LED flashlights... multiple solar lights
Plenty of cut and stacked wood... extra logs seasoning for next year

I'm good for at least a month if frig and freezer stay cold. At least two weeks if from pantry alone. Couldn't guarantee a balanced diet but I'd survive.

Crikey! I've never given it any thought and maybe I should. I think I take thinks too much for granted and groove along thinking that things will never alter and as for an emergency, allI have is a lot of wax candles in the event of a power cut.:oops:
