Would you buy a mattress online?

My daughter did. One of those that expand when you open the package. There was a 90 guarantee if you weren’t satisfied. She hated it. Even though they take it back, I’m not sure how you’d pack it up. Lots of people love these. I’d prefer to test it out.
 
Am expecting delivery of my new bed this Sunday. Wanted Bob's Discount, but they couldn't get me the frame till Dec. 23. I made up my mind, it must be TODAY. My current mattress is 20 years old and hurts! Got a Nectar memory foam with top layer of gel and the frame is plain. The Bob's had a nice small wooden headboard. As I said, can't wait 3 months & I didn't like the ornate headboards. The one I bought, at Mattress Firm, goes up like a hospital bed. I don't need that, but, the frame is raised so my cats can still hide under it.

Might be my last bed, who knows?
 
Before I started gabbing about myself I would buy a mattress online IF I tried it out at a store. The mattress I bought can be bought online and comes in a box. I noticed Purple is online and in stores.

In August I bought a compressed twin mattress in a box from Brooklyn Bedding and it has been fine for me.

I wouldn't worry about the removal fee. Some places disclose the removal fee as a separate item and some build it into the price of the new mattress but make no mistake you are paying to have it removed.
 
Yup. They are taking old three pieces (mattress, boxspring, broken metal frame) away. I can't do it, and I didn't want my son doing it, although he wanted to. Just looked up my contract. Says 'haul away' $10.99. Where I live, everything costs a fortune and my state tax high.
 
Yes, we did that after I finally gave up on the Stearns & Foster nonsense. I'd love to support a local company but their mattresses are a rip-off. They just don't last.

Went on-line to do research, decided on the Beautyrest BSR900 medium-firm hybrid, and got it thru a local chain. Never went into the store, just bought it on-line. Very fast and convenient. Figured if we didn't like it it would be easy to return it (the chain has a good return pick-up policy), but we've been very happy with it.
 
I have a twin-sized King Coil which I swapped from my mom's bed after she passed. I had bought it new for her just a few months before that, so it was virtuallly new. It's a 7" deep inner-spring with a pillow top. Now it looks more like a hammock and some of the springs are poking up here and there. I thoght I could flip it over to buy a little extra time, but it's in worse shape on thge flip side. Considering it's 14 years old - probably has gone the distance. I looked online for twin mattresses, there are three major outlets in my area. Most of their twin size are firm - I am used to a soft mattress. Also debating on whether to stay with an inner-spring or get a memory foam or hybrid. Too many choices these days - another case of analysis paralysis. I am also surprised at how thick the modern ones are - I don't think my fitted sheets would fit them. Mine also has handles and I notices the new ones don't have handles.

Since most mattresses aren’t meant to be flipped, they quit putting on handles.

My mattress can be flipped. I regret wasting the extra $ for this. Age makes this much harder to do. I said to DH it would have been better to have a plan to just replace a regular mattress after a few years. It goes against our normal thinking of making things last. Age & my body has changed me.

You’re right about thinking deeper sheets will be needed.

Mine, which comes tomorrow has no springs. No more springs, not for me, even the new coiled ones in a hybrid.
