Would you care if your neighbor decided to keep a few chickens?

I don't mind neighbors having chickens if they're properly cared for and aren't let loose to dig up my gardens ... or let out to roam to be attacked and slaughtered by predators because the owners are idiots, which is the case with my neighbors. :( Thank God, after the last batch of chickens were slaughtered, they didn't get any more.

I wouldn't mind at all. In fact, I'd get him a rooster.
Chickens are entitled to have a little fun, too.

I'll take a few chickens over dogs any day. They keep their mouths shut and mind their own business unlike some dogs and their owners around here.

Chickens are allowed here - but no roosters. Not too long after we moved here, we had 4 hens. The back yard is completely fenced in so roaming was not a problem as we trimmed the feathers on one wing of each hen. I really liked having them and the eggs they laid. They were very companionable and caused no problems. We've had a variety of critters share our yard. :) I like their company

There was a minor to do in my neighborhood. All the lots have to be 1 acre or larger in my area. One of my neighbors decided to keep a few chickens, and built a coop, and a small fenced in pen. He did not get a rooster, so as to not upset the neighbors at 5:30 AM. Well, this caused a huge to do. The question of his chickens went before the town council, and he had to get rid of his chickens. I don't know anything about chickens, but I didn't think his keeping a few for eggs was a big deal. Would you care if your neighbor decided to keep a few chickens?
I wouldn't mind at all! I love animals. Why would someone complain about that?

How would you like to be awakened at dawn each day by their crowing and clucking? If it robs someone of two or three hours of sleep, which they need to get through the work day, you're darn right they'd be ticked. I'm retired and I forced a neighbor to get rid of their noisy pain in the arse chickens by complaining to the code department of our town. This is a bigger problem than you realize.

What @Indiana Joe said (though I didn't have a neighbor with chickens). I just know that they're loud.

I also wonder if their presence might draw coyotes or the like.

I wouldn't care. I had a neighbor, a few houses down, who had chickens in the town. But, most often, chickens, donkeys, horses, etc. are required to be out of the city limits. Most of the time.

You know? I wouldn't want to live in a world which didn't allow chickens in town. or wild horses,
or freedoms as expressing your own individuality in your own surroundings. Would you?

former neighbor was a teacher. at end of school year he came home with an unclaimed science project... something like 10-15 smallish chickens. his son (maybe 7-8 yo) practically dragged me out of my car when i got home from school myself... off to see the chickies in backyard. neighbor built an enclosure (protection from other critters).

then one day, as i was pulling into my driveway, the kid next-door was already running out to meet me?! this time he grabbed my hand and lead me into their garage. he opened the door to their spare fridge and there they were all lined up neatly in a pan. i had never heard a peep from the chicks, but they were apparently keeping mom & dad awake when some started crowing.

they were delicious on the grill!

The chickens are fine. Most of my neighbors have chickens. I would too if I didn't like to travel so much. The only time it has bothered me is one neighbor who keeps some sort of rooster that continually crows all day long. That can get old.
