Sadly,when hubby was dying of lung brain cancer,he wanted a smoke and we told him No...kids and I.
I regret this,the damage was already done and finishing it's job.

The term "doctors orders" is a misnomer. "Doctor's recommendations" would be more accurate. Doctors have no authority to "order" anything.

Medically speaking, doctors order all the time for their patients.
