Would you go up in a hot air balloon???

We have a hot air balloon festival here yearly and I would never go up in one. They just drift where ever and you can't really control them. I just don't understand the fascination with them myself but I guess to each his own.

I have and I would again. I went up in one in Cappadocia, Turkey. There were 101 balloons in the air that morning and we went up and down into the valleys around the "fairy chimneys" and cave dwellings.

I would love it. Had a neighbor who had one, always promised me a ride, and never followed through. And they do actually have some control.

I have been up in one twice. Once in Africa with my late wife over the Serengeti and once with my present wife in Sedona. Both experiences were great.

Nope..never ... I am afraid of heights. I'm alright in a plane, no problems there.. but there's no way I could be in a basket that isn't enclosed...

Yes, I wish I could have done that in my earlier days on vacations but friends were dead against it so never did it.

I also always wanted to do a bungee jump and almost did once on vacation but the person running the show advised against when he heard my friends blabbing about my old back surgery...duh!

I love seeing them, especially the real colorful ones, but I'd never ride in one. Besides the balloons going out of control and crashing, incidences of the balloons catching fire with passengers inside are enough to make me say No thanks.

Nope, no interest in getting into a hot air balloon. Don't mind an aeroplane but not sitting longer than a 2-hour trip. I did climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge with my sons for my 60th birthday, loved every minute of it.

I got roped into a flight a few years ago. The pilot was a recent LA resident who had just migrated to WA State. The flight took place on a large dairy farm. The flight was uneventful but when our Pilot told us that she was going to land us "right by that lake" I realized that her "lake" was actually the settling lagoon for all the cow shit the farm collected. Then she commented how wonderful it was that the farmer had "trained" his cows to walk in single file.........Obviously the lady knew nothing about dairy farming.

I commented to her that she might aim for a spot well away from the lake as it was likely to be quite aromatic beside it and that cows are herd animals who walk single file instinctively.

I was not impressed especially when I learned she had arranged to have the catering van hauling our lunch park right beside her lake.

I would if I had the opportunity. It looks like it would be peaceful and lots of fun.

I'm terrified of heights, too. But I did ride in a balloon. It's unbelievably quiet. And there's no wind- you're going with the wind. Riding in a balloon is high enough to be high, but not too high. And it's slow enough to be enjoyable. You wouldn't think the ride would be that serene and peaceful.
If you get the chance, I would definitely urge you to take it.

My husband and I went up in one some thirty years ago. Had a great time. I don’t feel the need to repeat the experience. The ride was a gift to us from our real estate agent after we bought a house.
