I went up in a tethered one at a balloon festival once. That was enough, thanks. We used to live in an area where hot air balloons were very popular. I loved watching them and chasing them all over the place, and then watching them land. One landed in my next door neighbors yard. They're beautiful. I have no desire to fly in one, though.

I rode in the Goodyear Blimp once years ago. We were up for about an hour-and-a-half. There is a little propeller on the back of the gondola that steers the blimp and moves it s-l-o-w-l-y. Other than that, it was very quiet. You can move around in the gondola, which is totally enclosed.

Not for me. A friend’s daughter bought her a ride on one as a surprise. She pretended she was happy and hated every minute of it. Never told her the truth.

We have a hot air balloon festival here yearly and I would never go up in one. They just drift where ever and you can't really control them. I just don't understand the fascination with them myself but I guess to each his own.

Here in Albuquerque we just last week had our annual 'International Balloon Fiesta', 600 balloons for a week, largest in the world. I went up in one 25 or so years ago, didn't enjoy it.
