Would you go?

Hubby and I went to dinner with some old friends last night. I have been in contact with the woman on and off over the years since grammar school. We had lost touch for a while and reconnected earlier this year. ANYWAY... in the conversation, they mentioned that they recently went to Florida and one of the things they did there was go to a strip club. So, I mentioned that I had never been to a strip club... but was curious.. to make a long story short... they have invited us to go to one... the next time we meet for an evening out.. I feel like I have boxed myself in.. part of me is still curious... part of me is creeped out.. It would be with our husbands... and NO.. they are not swingers.. her husband is very much older than she is... by 20 years and is disabled and wheelchair bound.. So doubtful they have any ideas about us... other than apparently they enjoy strip clubs... and wanted us to go with them... geez... why do these crazy things happen to me.. Would you go??

We used to go a lot in San Francisco back in the late 60s and 70s. We were just kids, really lol. Went with friends all the time. But now? Eh. Probably just make me feel bad about the body I no longer have lol.

No I wouldn't go. Not interested. Does that make me an old fogey!?

Go! It'll be and experience. It's just dancers taking off some or all their clothing. If you have never seen a nude woman I guess it would be very interesting, I hope to experience that one day. *LOL*

I went once in the early 1970s to a “girlie” club with a group of guys I worked with in an office. Guess this was how they unwound, or whatever. (We were bar-hopping, and this place was on their list.) The women were VERY friendly to the guys (ha!), danced and gyrated on poles, wearing next to nothing (but not nude). At the time the club was owned by Larry Flynt when he was in his prime – 'nuff said.

Once was enough. Now I would find it icky. Same with Chippendale guys or male strippers…eye-roll inducing (to me). Doesn’t make me wanna puke or upset me, but I’d have no interest in that type of entertainment now.

However, I’ve heard of women who get furious when their bfs/husbands go to a strip club, especially if they get a lap-dance. Ick.

Yeah,I never did go to a Chippendale show, back when it was all the rage. Just not interested. A couple of years ago, they had a show at one of our local casinos and my daughters and their friends went,as well as my daughter`s MIL and a couple of her friends. I passed.

Never in a million years!

Meet up with her and do your own thing, then decide if you want your partners along.

Lots of stories come out of the Sates, and this just sounds like it could be one of them.

I am an old fogey.
I think I would look at the young people and think that I wouldn't want any of my children or grand children behaving like that.

Call me straitlaced.

Mrs. R, it’s funny how when I got to thinking about it I remember little details – like I was about 23 yrs old, wearing heels and a skirt and blouse (I was a front desk receptionist and the guys I went with were all architects at that firm). I remember I needed to use the ladies room, and the place was so dark I tripped and fell on the way! One the guys took me home in his sporty little car, and he got a bit too friendly ….back in those days people drank and then drove and it was “no big deal”. Anyway, next day at the office I felt a bit uncomfortable, but it all blew over soon.

At one job (I think in the early 1980s) the folks planned a birthday party for a guy and hired a bikini-clad girl to pop out of a cake. I always thought that was corny.

Reading some parts of this thread just reminded me of a scene or two in a DVD movie I watched last night "We Are The Millers," especially the swinger part. Strippers and Swinging came up in the movie, even if over all the movie wasn't all that great those scenes were hilarious.

Anyway, I'd probably go out of curiosity since I've never been to a strip club. When I lived in Tampa, were several well known ones it seemed so once I proposed to one of my then boyfriends that we go check one out, but, when the time came, I chickened out, or maybe he just ticked me off, I'm pretty sure it was a little of each knowing me. It all sounds good on paper sometimes, but living it out, I don't know, still, with another couple, I might have ventured just out of curiosity.

I went once with a boyfriend in my 20s because I was also curious, but there wasn't much to it really, maybe nowadays it might be more elaborate. In spite of it being exploitative, I try not to judge.

well... fortunately I don't have to decide now.. I'll see how I feel in a few months when she calls to set something up.. maybe she'll forget...

I had to do some heavy duty thinking before I could recall any stripping in that movie, but now of course, I remember it all. I liked "We are The Millers" so much it's one of the few movies I purchased on DVD. As far as strip clubs, I'd go but I'm sure my husband would not.

I stopped in one with my husband when we were in Hawaii a looong time ago, just for a drink and then we left. I was curious, and it was pretty much how I thought it would be. I went years later to a male strip club with a girlfriend of mine, we had a great time, but once was enough, satisfied my curiosity that time too. Neither me or my husband have ever been 'into' strip clubs. I definitely wouldn't want to go with another couple.

Went once with my hubby, to a club with a name much like a nickname folks tried to pin on me ... The Roxie. It was interesting. Not something I'd care to do regularly, but fun at the time. But that was in a time when it was more burlesque rather than "in-your-face" ... know what I mean?
