Would You Have Donated $5 ?

After the Red Cross embezzlement of surplus 9/11 donations to remodel their corporate headquarters, I no longer give any money to charities.

When I was driving an 18-wheeler over the country, I would constantly be approached by individuals who claimed to be hungry and wanted a couple of bucks for a meal. Instead of money, I would offer them food from my supplies. Not one time was the offer accepted. I drove for 14 years.

When me and the late wife were driving together we made a connection with the Amarillo, Texas Red Hat Society (they would donate crocheted blankets and baby gear for unwed mothers). They told me of an individual that they were going to help. They decided to watch this individual who was panhandling off of an Interstate exit ramp. When the day ended, he walked 3 blocks to a brand new Buick and then drove to his $250K home (this was 2 decades ago).

Donations are for suckers.

I donated to Doctors Without Borders during an Ebola crisis many years ago. They hounded me for additional donations more relentlessly than any other charity I've supported.

I support several charities regularly but requests for additional money from them or others hit the shredder immediately.
They do not pass Go. Definitely do not collect $200.

No I wouldn't donate, I never do with unsolicited request. But if they send a self addressed postage paid envelope I return it with a post-it note thank you!
