Somethings are best hidden from me because once I know something there is no turning back to a former state of understand. I think about the atrocities of war and murder, it would be hard for me to live with that. Knowing the agenda of government would push me further away the trust scale than I am already. Religion is another huge institution, like the government and as far as I am concern are no different by comparison.

Knowing a secret includes what you plan to do with the secret. Are morally convicted to expose the secret or will you keep it to yourself? What if people's depended on the secrets you keep? Would you rectify an adulterous situation even if you did not know the other parties?

If someone was stealing, would you report it? What about family abuse, child or spouse?

Secrets come with responsibility are you willing to act responsibly based on what you know?

Hmmm.... well, I'll tell ya, @Mr. Ed ... there was a time in my life when I would have wanted to know everything. I wanted to know what was going on around me whether I actually had a stake in the outcome or not. If there were secrets, by golly, you'd better share them with me so that I can see if I could help/fix (I've always been a fixer and it's caused so much grief.) But now? Nah... too much anxiety that way and I'm perfectly fine being oblivious now. :sneaky:

I think I'm like everybody else, what I don't know is vast compared to what I do know. If we were afraid of what we don't know, we'd be writing these threads on parchment, and waiting for a guy on a horse to deliver them.

Well, just a year after 9/11 G. Bush did say "We are looking to prevent further attacks and HAVE DONE SO" meaning there's dead bodies that were terrorists. As Barney Fife was so proud to say "Nip it in the bud!"

But, we went deeper. We didn't HAVE TO invade Afghanistan. There wasn't a good reason. Which is sad. Besides all the weapons left behind.

We could have simply let the SEALs, Green Berets, Army Rangers and others go quietly and eliminate hostiles with less collateral damage.

And all we ended up with is a rock quarry where we wasted 2-3 trillion and thousands of lives
