Would you live in a Tiny house?

i have lived in some very small apts and trailers at various times. It's easier if alone. But frankly now i could only do it if had a 2nd one for my books. They always take up most space in moving vans when we've moved. Something i don't plan on doing again.

I wouldn't want to, for all of the same reasons that you mentioned. And yet......

Sometimes I think about it. I have a lifetime of accumulating junk, in my house now. And I'm having real issues with not being able to get rid of stuff. If I lived in a Tiny house, I would be forced to minimize. Sometimes I fantasize about it might be like to live that simpler lifestyle.

I was forced to minimize in my move from a large house I sold, to a small apartment.
.. In reality, it was a relief to ditch things that I thought I really needed.

That was 4 yrs. ago ... life is better, and I don't miss a thing!

I think that is how I would see it....but right now, I'm a "saver". I don't think I could do it on my own.

Tiny, but not too tiny.

Most tiny houses are so carefully staged you don’t really get a good idea of what daily life would be like.

I think that I could be content in a two car garage sized unit if it had indoor plumbing, laundry equipment, and full sized kitchen appliances.
That was my dream before I moved here. A two car garage made out of cinder blocks. I had it pictured to every last detail in my mind. At night I would go to sleep imagining what it would look like. I almost forgot about it.

I lived in a 32 ft 5th wheel for 5 winters in SW-AZ during my snow-birding phase on my bucket list. Some getting used to but as one poster pointed out too many amenities in a small space. It was a good experience at the time but the travel and transition every year was tiring. Would be OK now if I had to do it again.

Added: My 5th was 240 sq ft + 2 tipouts (bedroom/w queen, full closet, 6 drawer dresser, sink, shower, WC). Kitchen dinning-stove/oven, dbl sink, table for 4. Living rm recliner, Full width storage/bench. empty space for ?. Plenty of storage below & overhead. Porch 8x8. Bought from 'roadwarrior' owned by daughter for 3 years.

Not for long! I need a bit of space, certainly less than I have now but more than a tiny house.
That's kind of where I am with this, too. Don't know that DH and I will downsize from 2500 SF anytime soon though.

Truth is we use nearly all the space. Four bedrooms - one BR is DH's office (and doubles as a guest room, when needed), another has been converted to a toy room/play space for our grands and other visiting children, another is a full-fledged guest room and the other is our master bedroom.

The quite large dining room is used for its original purpose a few times a month (plus my office occupies in portion of it), same with the living room. All other areas are used on a daily basis.

Our children get together frequently and since DH & my house is by far the most spacious, this is where we tend to gather unless it's an outdoor party, in which case one of our sons has the much larger yard.

All that said, keeping down the clutter and number of possessions and staying ahead of the dusting can be challenging.

My apartment is 338 sq. ft and I do not feel caged in one bit because the areas I call my living room and bedroom have a very high ceiling and 3 large, tall windows. I watch videos about tiny houses and rv living. Not that I want to do either, but tiny houses can be built to accommodate you. I have seen many without the loft, full size appliances, queen size beds, full size showers, etc. Closet space is usually at a minimum, as it is in my apartment (Don't think hollydolly could store her shoes here though). But I have adapted and now I love it.

Would you live in a Tiny house instead of a house?
Yes, I mean at this stage in the game how much room do you really need? The American Correctional Association gives accreditation to jails and prisons that comply with ACA standards. 70 sq. ft. is the recommended size for a single(double) occupancy cell. That includes a wall mounted bunk(s), and comby sink/toilet. Shower facilities located in common areas. Personally I would be comfortable with about 400~500 sq. ft., or as is know as a studio apartment.
Right now I live in a 1700 sq.ft. house on 2-1/2 acres, I do like the "elbow room" but it's becoming less important to me, as life progresses.

Houses in the UK are probably some of the smallest in Europe. Many "starter" houses are about 850-900 sq.ft. My house is about 1400 sq ft with about another 300 sq ft in outbuildings. It's adequate. My campervan is tiny in comparison, and you could fit it into an American 5th wheel and hardly notice it was there.

(In Scotland we tend to say "Totie" instead of tiny. However, while totie = small, very small is "totie wee" )
