How many here would be willing to travel to meet in others that participate in the Senior Forums? I think it would be a blast, a Senior Forums Conference, so to speak. I've traveled further distances for less.

Stranger things have happened, no?

What say ye?

It's interesting though, I am usually able to get a decent sense of the folks I interact with frequently, such that their behavior or opinions or whatever doesn't really surprise me. It's how their voices sound, and what they look like, that typically takes me aback!

It's always been amusing to me how I can form a mental sense of someone's voice or patterns of speech and then be completely surprised when I hear them in person. Less so appearance if I have a photo, but even then the in-person version is often completely different than the image I've formed of them with the photos I've seen.
 
I have had "Meets" with members on a couple of forums from about 2006.i have not belonged to an Intetnational forum and have never done FB etc. I have been forunate to have met some very good folk and in a couple of cases stayed friends off line and all met on forums.

I do know that social media Meets can be very successful and ones that have not for various reasons. Horses for courses as we say here
 
Yep me too..Ronni. I find that the voices come as a complete surprise, and also often I find that those who seem to be the most outgoing or conversely the quietest online can surprise me by being the complete opposite. I believe that sometimes the internet gives a voice to people who are introverts in public, so it's always a surprise to expect to find those that are the most chatty online are the wallflowers at a meet.. or those who seemed very nice are sometimes grumpy or vice versa...

A group meet up sounds like fun for those interested in traveling, but my traveling days are over.
No enjoyment going anywhere by myself.

A couple of folks in two different meets discovered they were from the same part of the country, and arranged their travel to meet at a designated airport, and then travel together from there. So they had a pre-meetup meetup! :ROFLMAO:
