Would you rather have a short intense or a long milder illness?

Of course none of us wants to be ill and I wish everyone the best health they can have.

I'm going into my fifth week of a cold/RSV infection and I'm getting so damned tired of it. I'm realizing I would have much rather had a short intense illness up for up to four days rather than this. This is the longest I have ever been ill. I've had some illness which lasted up to 2 weeks and some where I was sick for a week had three healthy days followed by another week of sickness. But nothing ever like this. There were three days when I was feeling like I was starting to get health but it call came crashing down on the fourth day.

As a child , I almost died from rheumatic fever. It was a long and grueling recovery. Mom had to teach me how to walk again, since there was no money for physical therapy. She also tutored me so I wouldn’t fail first grade. I have never forgotten that.

I have had short bouts of bronchial issues and food poisoning— I will take those over extended illness any day. Especially now that I am old. Extended illnesses aren’t good for anyone, especially the elderly.

Sounds like you had an amazing mom.

Maybe you should go to the doctor and get a prescription for some antibiotics. Sometimes our bodies need a little help getting better.

That sounds so miserable. I hope you get better soon.

Short and intense is my preference. I can always take NyQuil so I can sleep at night.

Long illnesses make me crazy. It starts to feel like I will always be sick with a bad cold.
