Would you send your kids or grandkids back to school in the current situation?

No, with qualifications. If the family simply can't pay the rent/mortgage and buy food unless both parents go back to work and relatives can't babysit -- well I guess they would have to send the child to school.

I'm hoping this will all be over by next year and one year of home schooling shouldn't hurt any child. At least not as much as lasting lung damage, or a parent seriously ill from the disease they brought home.
 

If I had school-aged kids, I'd definitely not send them back to school this term.
Schools throughout the state have already started- and already numerous cases of covid have appeared in both teachers and students.

I only have one school-aged grandchild- in a different state- and was very relieved to hear his parents don't plan to send him.
 
The city schools in my area have abandoned the idea of in-person learning until sometime in October or November.

The thing that concerns me about the decision is that they have not come up with any objective criteria to determine if they are ready or if it is safe to open then.

The suburban districts are still on track to return to some sort of hybrid model. Teachers and staff in those districts started taking COVID19 tests this week and will continue testing as schools reopen for students after Labor Day.
 

I spoke to 3 people over the last few days up here, none of their grand children are gong back to school at this time. They will be doing home schooling and online as it come available. I admit to knowing nothing about the online schooling. They are on the "not believing" side of any news from the ontario or federal governments and are waiting to make sure of things.
This I agree with. Better safe than to lose a young one.
 
Yes the way our local school is doing it. They're rotating half in class attendance, half at home online with the option of all online if the parents want that. Extracurricular events are limited to participants and two family members only.

My daughter and her husband are letting Granddaughter go to school...It's her last
year of High School....She plays sports....The school are dividing the kids when they come to school....So Granddaughter is going on Monday
and wed. and thurs... My daughter said if she feels she doesn't want to do this when she get's to school she can to her homework remotely...
Their son is in his 2nd year of College, he is doing his homework remotely at home....Don't know if they will go after Christmas....
Everything is up in the air....Granddaughter would love to go to school, play her sport, have a prom and graduate High School.. God Willing♥
 
Friday night football is a big deal in the schools here in Texas..I watched tv last night and the stands where full with very little masks or distancing ..

Edit: I said full, but it was half full with room for distancing..

not up to me, but we have two who start live monday, one live tuesday, one remote tuesday, one home schooled and one who wants to remote but father wants in school. two college kids one is home on the computer and the other left for Fla. Wednesday. the first three go to smaller private/church schools. i personally think the two had that last February they were real sick and and lots of kids from their school were sick. i know lots of people are afraid but with mask and washing of hands we been out and about. we have been having church.
