Wow, site is being flooded with spam

Bots... wouldn't it be cool if there was a program that would make the bot machines self destruct after pulling this garbage on forums?

I hover over their icon and click ignore, then refresh screen to take them off at least where I can't see the posts

@Matrix has his work cut out for him, big job controlling/eliminating scummy spammers/scammers. Hopefully when this batch gets the boot, we won't have to see them again.

I know who the culprit is!!! According to the pic Mr/Ms Bot put on one of the spam accounts, it's Gandhi causing all this trouble!

I'd think so... I've seen it similar but am pretty much computer illiterate.
But that's how others (smarter than I explained it).

Yes. More than 200 Bot spam messages flooded the site for over three hours.
Matrix had to shut the site down for a couple of hours to rid the interlopers.

I didn't visit the site while this happened, and so I didn't see the posts, but a Beatles forum I frequent has been inundated by spam, too, recently:

Not linked to ads. Profiles were made then these flooded the site with posts.

I thought I was internet savvy, but somehow I missed the "lots of" spamming! I did see one suspicious post lately and I think that guy was called out pretty quickly.

It began about 20 hours ago and last approximately 3 hours. Site shut down by Matrix for 2 hours to rid the spammer bots

I liked spam, I can remember when it was exotic. Haven't had it for years.
