Wrestling, Am I the Only One Who Finds it a Total Waste of Time?

Remember when journalist John Stossel told wrestler David Von Shultz during an interview that he thought pro wrestling was fake, and Shultz slapped the bejeezez out of him?...twice, right upside his head.

Shultz wrote his autobiography years later. Its title is Don't Call Me Fake. And Stossel's ears are still ringing.
 

What you all are talking about is NOT WRESTLING. IT IS PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING...

I have always hated Professional Wrestling! Nothing about it is Professional and nothing about it is Wrestling....It is stupid as you all indicate...

Wrestling is a competitive sport and can be enjoyed at a very young age. Most division 1 colleges have Wrestling teams as do most all High Schools in the USA. Contrary to those who know nothing about the sport claim, participants at all levels wear uniforms that cover their upper body (chest) as well as shorts at the minimum. For me the best form of Wrestling is in the Olympics. Similar to the style in the USA, it has complexities that make it faster and more difficult. Similar to Soccer (Football to the rest of the world), you really have to understand the game to enjoy watching it!

I started competing in wrestling when I was in 3rd grade and participated in it as a player and/or coach until I was in my 50's...

By the time the rest of the viewers realised it was all a sham, they'd stopped broadcasting it any more. I haven't seen it on our networks for decades..

I was 5'4" at the time. Tallest man I ever met. They were all tall except for ......... forgot his name, will ask my son.

Did anyone watch the Netflix series, GLOW about women’s wrestling? It was interesting. I quit watching after season 2 when I learned the final season wasn’t being made.
 
Dan Gable's Olympic gold medal...now that was wrestling!

Considered to be one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Gable is a two-time NCAA Division I national champion, a world gold medalist, and an Olympic gold medalist. Gable was only the third wrestler to be inducted into the United World Wrestling's Hall of Fame in the Legend category.[1][2] In 2014, Gable was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame[3] and on December 8, 2020, U.S. President Donald Trump awarded Gable with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.[4]

I remembered it myself! Bob Backlund. He was so normal and very very nice
 
I'm going back a long way now, what about Gorgeous George with the blond hair that looked like it had been set by a hairdresser. We loved it as youngsters, here in Oz. we watched it every Saturday afternoon - Ringside with the Wrestlers. Some of them that I remember - Killer Karl Kox, Mario Milano (I thought he was a looker) the original Italian Stallion, Bulldog Brower and Leo Garibaldi. Those were the days.!!

Wrestling never interested me, however, I do enjoy those dreams where I go 15 rounds wrestling a lovely lady on a king-size bed. 😊

Thanks for the only (except mine) interesting post on Wrestling.

This so called 'Professional Wrestling' is really just a clown show, and a not very good one at that...! People who watch it must be very bored....
