Not me.... I was a girly girl... Loved pretty things... pretty dresses... jewelry.. earings.. Still do..
 

Sadly nowadays most people don't use a watch to tell the time, but to check the passage of time.

Next time you see someone look at their watch ask them what the time is. They will almost certainly look at their watch again. They looked at their watch simply to see how long to their next appointment, task or whatever.
 

I posted it on another thread, but it fits here too. My son gave me a watch which connects to my phone. So my watch blurbs to tell me I have an email or a text, which it will them verbally read to me. I can reply using my watch too, but it takes some courage to chat to one's watch in a public place! It keeps good time too!

The wife and I have the Fit Bit. It is a bracelet that syncs with the Ipad and tells us steps taken, calories used, sleep pattern and a few more things. Doesn't tell time but the new version does.
 
I have a watch. It's in a drawer somewhere. I use my phone to tell the time. I really thought the phone would eventually replace the wrist watch. Maybe not.

Ah seeing this thread pop-up made me think about my dream.

For some strange reason I had a dream about watches and one of mine in particular. For some reason, I decided to have it appraised, turned out to be not worth anything or the person said it was a fake of a very expensive type, I'd never heard of, though I'd never really thought it was an expensive watch to begin with. Just some person was selling one similar to mine for oodles of cash and I just had to see.

I lump it up to my feelings in life in general, not getting your hopes up. Wasn't a bad dream, just a metaphor of sorts that left me feeling ok about it all. Or maybe it was saying don't bother getting that scratch off this month. :laugh:
 
Have worn Seikos for years. Current Seiko is solar powered, so doesn't need batteries. Used to wear wrist watch 24/7. Now, put on carpel tunnel braces at night, so have to take it off.

I work outside and play (golf) outside. A couple years ago, my old watch wore out and my wife insisted we visit our friendly jeweler to get a new one. When I took off my old watch to try on the new one, the young sales lady started laughing so hard she had tears running down her cheeks. Said she had never seen a "farmer's tan" like that! Where my Seiko sits is signifacntly "whiter" than the rest of my hands/arms....
 
I stopped wearing a watch when I bought my car that had a clock in it. I don't even wear one to work. We have clocks in every room and there is one on the computer that counts seconds also.
