This is way too funny! My DD despises Elf; I love Elf. I went looking for him last year and DD insisted he was "lost". but I know better. She either hid him or trashed him. Heartless! His name is Dudley. I have visions of poor Dudley either homeless or buried in the county landfillšŸ˜­

It wasnā€™t around when my kids were growing up, and I wouldnā€™t have gotten one if there were. I think itā€™s a bad idea to even suggest in fun that a felt & wire ā€œthingā€ is watching them.Some kids are overly suggestible. Some religions teach that God is everywhere & watching but I think thatā€™s a whole other thing. Benevolent.
I saw a funny cartoon on a different site of a cat burying an elf in its litter box. <<<Yes!
 

The elf on the shelf always makes me think of this guy from the 60s/70s.

We had a couple of them that always appeared somewhere around the house during the holidays.
