Xanax 0.25 MG for Sleep

I actually use melatonin 10 mg. But I ran out about a week ago. I do have an order in and I've already received it I have yet to drive up and get the packages. But I am finding I'm sleeping better without it, which does surprise me quite a bit.

Of course I finally lay down at about 10:30-11:00 p.m. and I usually don't wake up until about 5:30 a.m. minor nap at 1-2 p.m.

I used to take Klonopin , 1mg/3x daily... but I don't see the doctor that used to prescribe
it for me. It was extremely helpful for me in many ways, including sleep and I miss it.

The several doctors that I do see now, become all nervous when the subject of "benzos"
comes up... they seem to break out rash and get all itchy and then lecture me on all the
evils of such meds.

I'd say use caution but be thankful for them if they're doing what you need them to do.

I have a prescription for 0.25 mg. Clonazepam, in the same drug class as Xanax, but it wasn't prescribed for sleep. Some doctors may prescribe it for that reason, but FDA-approved uses are for treating anxiety, panic disorder and seizures.

My RX label on a bottle of 30 says take 2 times daily "as needed" for anxiety," but the doctor doesn't want me taking it every day, and probably would discontinue refilling if a bottle of 30 was used up within 15 days.

But yes, on days when I do take it, I sleep better at night.

As I age, I started trouble sleeping.
My Dr. rx'ed Xanax 0.25 mg.
Anyone has Xanax for sleep?
Thanks,
I have, when I had a Xanax prescription. You can't take Xanax on a long term basis. Plus, doctors are not *supposed to* give out open ended prescriptions of Xanax.
Trazodone works good, is not habit forming or physically addictive.

There are better prescriptions for sleep

I have clonazepam prescribed for the same reason. I have cPTSD. Most doctors are very careful not to prescribe them unless really necessary. All benzodiazepines are highly addictive. There are other prescriptions better suited as a sleeping aid. Maybe you are getting treated for high anxiety AND sleep deprivation. You don’t really give us a lot of info into why you ended up with this prescription

I've never taken Xanax. I did take several kinds of benzos though many years ago until they started being very cautious about them. They told me that they give memory problems and made me stop taking them cold turkey. That was hard since I had been taking Valium 3 times a day for several years.
