Yesterday there was long wait in line to buy a lottery ticket

Thursday being pension day.
I enter store and there were about ten elderly customers wanting to but lottery tickets.
Each person took at least 5 minutes for the transaction. Some longer. Rummaging around in their purses. Checking last weeks tickets.
After 23 minutes I purchase my ticket in less than a minute, having my money ready beforehand.
This is what I have to look forward to in the coming decades?

we have the exact opposite... Not older people at all... all yung..kind of Gen Z and X... ages...

Yes, this does hold up lines anywhere there is a till. Perhaps they just process things using cognitive strategy because it is a familiarity to them. Counting out every coin is possibly a lifelong habit and it helps them with the process especially if they have any type of limitations. You gotta love them just the same.

Could they be hoping to fill their cars up?
yes maybe now... but in all seriousness traditionally ..it's sort of 20's though to 50 is the average age range of long lottery queues... and women and young guy.. teens.. are the ones I see scratching off scratch cards even before they've even left the store.

Just terrible waste of money most of them can ill afford to lose.. and yet they queue up every week... and I'm sure many of them probably gamble online as well ..possibly even gamble averywhere they can...
