Yesterday's day out to visit a Stately home and Gardens

The Blue bedroom
Look at the tapestry wall hangings... just beyond words really...

This took my breath away...I was astounded that this Chapel is actually inside the house, alongside bedrooms on the 1st floor ( second floor fror Americans) ... rather than as an attachment to the building.. the family worshipped here, and there was an Ante-chapel elsewhere in the house for the staff...

Holly, how long did you spend wandering through this massive home? So much to see.
Oh you could be there for hours if you take the talking/walking tour as many people did, but we didn't because my DD had been there previously and I didn't want to make her go through hours of listening again.. so we just took the brochures and did the tour by ourselves, and it took about an hour and a half..

This was an amazing thing... this picture is a reflection in a mirror on the floor of the ceiling of the masters' small dressing room,(about 6ft x9') placed there by the owners/curators so as to keep people out of the small room but still able to get a view of the ceiling.. I took a photo of each.. the doorway is roped off but I could still take a photo leaning over..
