Yet Another Corrupt Govt. Agency

Oh wow! I have recently been shopping at Goodwill for replacement items...needed new "good" dishes and bought a lovely set for 8, looks brand new, white porcelain china w/ gold edges, dinner plates, salad plates and soup bowls for only $30.00.

On other trips, I found the matching gravy boat and the large serving bowl, $2.00 each!

To my delight, all small stuffed animals which have been dry-cleaned, are only 99 cents, bought a gangload- perfect for doggie who adores stuffed animals and they have been lasting longer than dog-toys from the pet store which cost 10 times the price!

At the check out, they ask if you'd like to round up the change to the next dollar to "help create jobs", of course everyone says yes.

Now I am sad that there is foul play in this organization that seemed to benefit so many. :(

Yes, it's a real shame when an organization like Goodwill decides to go against its founding principles. There are many disabled people who would love to have a job and help support themselves...but to see those jobs going to someone who takes a job away from a disabled person is just not right. I go through a lot of pairs of pants with all my outdoor work, so I always stop at the Goodwill store and can usually find 2 or 3 pairs that fit for $3 a pair...plenty good for my yard work, etc. A couple of weeks ago, I stopped in and bought 3 pairs, and one of them was a brand new pair of Dockers, which still had the plastic "thread" for the label....that one went into the good clothes closet. Next time I go up there, I am going to take a closer look at the people working there...and if I don't see anyone who might be disabled, I may just take my work clothes "shopping" to the Salvation Army.

Disgusting, Yes. Surprising, not too. But, do we trust the "over-seers" to be free of kinks of their own? Where does it stop? imp

Like the CIA types and their black budgets. A lot of money and jobs to be filled as a payoff or favor equals recipe for disaster.
