The second I hear a weird mispronunciation, an awkward unnatural pause, strange emphasis on certain words, obviously incorrect facts (especially pertaining to math or simple measurements/distances), I shut the crap down as fast as possible!

I loath and absolutely refuse to listen to an ignorant bot narrate a video and do a shitty job. If one does not even put the effort of decent narration into a video, that says a lot about it's lack of commitment and quality.

Unfortunately many videos are following this trend, so I can foresee in the not too distance future my e-reader will become my primary source of absorbing pertinent information and mental entertainment.

May I ask what you were listening to or watching? I hate badly dubbed in English foreign movies...drives me insane

Oh, I hear you!
I discover the same a long time ago, but not with bots... with stupid people who just want to hear themselves talk and get 'likes'.
I quit videos years ago.
I can't understand how/why people waste hours watching them every day!

I am more bothered by spelling errors than I am mispronounced words. Mainly because it's words people should know. My neighbor bless her heart says Of corse instead of Of course. Makes me nuts but I don't say anything.

I wonder if the effort that many YouTube posters is simply making money
off of people watching... as I understand it, they often are making money by
posting advertisements... content is irrelevant. (Merely useful for repeat traffic
to their "library).

My question, has long been, why do people even consider "social media" to be
a resource tool? I do know that there are some folks that provide useful info, but I
find those to be an exception.

I agree! I almost never watch videos online. I did watch one several weeks ago about the Titanic wreck, and the AI narrator mispronounced "bow" (enunciated it like a decorative bow on a gift, not a ship's bow). Most of the comments were about that, in fact.

When I see or hear a mistake like that I begin to doubt the veracity of everything else I'm reading or viewing.

I watch a lot of automotive videos on Youtube. Many are about past/future car makers/models. An example would be something like "Why did Oldsmobile fail?" or "The History of Lexus". When I see a video that isn't narrated by an actual person I immediately move on. If you can't put the work in, it doesn't deserve my attention.

Yeah you're preaching to the choir I feel the same way once I start hearing that AI voice I just scroll onto some other video to watch. I try at times to also block whoever put out that garbage and that way I never see them again.

This does remind me of the time where when I was working for a printer testing company ( Hewlett-Packard) and we were watching a video of the things HP had done around the world. And at one point the announcer was saying "we prefer to collect it all under one house roof" However the text to talk or talk to text however brought it out as "The whorehouse"

Every so often we would watch it and get a chuckle until the boss saw what was going on and removed it. 😂😂😂

I'm real but am a very poor typist.
I would be a better typist if my fingers weren't arthritic and numb, and I was never that good to begin with. Way back when, I got better job offers if I said I didn't type. That may be hard to believe but it got me out of the typist pile of applications. I'm talking 1956. Who knew computers with keyboards were about to come along?

it is a sure sign to turn off if they cannot pronounce local names etc.
Somewhat related I am amazed how badly close caption is on news/ videos etc. Many words not even close especially if a person being interviewed has any sort of accent. I cannot imagine how bad it is for someone depending on the caption for news/ or to follow a video.

I took 2 typing courses in junior high school and never thought I'd use it. Now I type all the type. I can't write worth a crap anymore thanks to computers but I can type!
