You must be logged in to do that!

I logged in this morning, and looked at several threads, checked reactions, etc.- all the usual things I do, and went here and there, but then suddenly I got a pink notice saying "You must be logged in to do that." [I was logged in. I had never logged out.] The only way I could overcome this was to close the browser and start over. This happened 3 times. Is anyone else getting this?

That hasn't happened for me on this site, but on a different forum that has literally the exact same setup as this one (must be a template for forums out there somewhere?) I had to suddenly sign up again even though I've been a member for more than 20 years. It was strange. It wasn't a phishing stunt; I verified it).

My guess would be that there was a glitch in your connection.

Maybe when the website was attacked a few days ago, settings got changed? Don’t know, but people have been having issues on and off on many sites.

A strange thing happened to me on another site. .. I get grocery delivery every week or two, and don’t pay much attention to all the settings anymore.

Well my delivery order got changed to pickup … I couldn’t understand why they were asking if I wanted bags or not? ... and the timeframe was odd.
It took me a little while to figure out what was happening ….

This morning, I am getting the orange line moving across the
top of my login page. This is both on my laptop and also on
my phone. It takes a few login try's for the moving orange line
to go away. Eventually I can log on.

I think the heat is messing up equipment along the lines.

On another forum I got a black page with a typewritten message about connection interruption. Tried again and successfully got to the website.
Agreed, my service has been going on off since the heatwave began. ....and acting up. However, for the first time, Spectrum enrolled me in a credit back program for outages over two hours.

My guess: The server's configuration for "stay logged in' session timed out.
Thank you for that, and I can understand it. The thing is, I was actively moving about at the time within the site and had not left the desk.

Do you have your web browser set up to clear cookies and data automatically, upon closing the browser?

If the browser security settings were set to dump all data and cookies, then it would dump your log-ins too.
Okay. But I've been logged in now, and between the time of my post #17 (my answer to you) and your new answer, it's already done it again just 72 seconds ago. I have been in emails and other applications without issues.

Yes, something is wrong because it's doing it every little bit now, and I have not logged out of the site since my last post. Sometimes it comes back. I get the pop up "You must be logged in", so I logged in (again).

Then a few seconds later, I got the same pop up, so I tried logging in again, and a new pop up said I was already logged in, so the site rebounded without me taking any action.

My modem shows a clear connection with an upload speed of 75.4 and a download speed of 12.01, and has not wavered, nor has any other site behaved this way.

Are you using a desktop PC to visit the forum or a cellphone? Also, which browser- Firefox, Chrome, Brave or...?

It's just a Gateway laptop. I never use my phone. The Chrome browser is what I use. I always do incognito, so if any cookies are saved, they are dumped with each closing of the browser.

I've been on here about 30-45 minutes, and nothing odd has happened. If it does it anymore, I'll try not using incognito, and not deleting cookies. I was just reluctant to take that step, since the way I've been doing things has worked fine for me for 8 months or so.
