You On the TV News?

There's only limited copyright laws about having to get permission to publicize footage of people. That's why we have the right to record the behavior and misbehavior of, say, police and teachers, for example, and the likes of porch pirates and burglars.
yes I know the laws ..in the UK :)

I have been on the local news over a dozen times over the years... mostly caught in the background..

Would you allow yourself to be photographed or videoed for a short clip on a news segment?

I’m watching the people getting the jab and see the same clips put into the news umpteen times. It’s the same with any news clip, they show the same thing repeatedly. I sure wouldn’t let it be me by choice.
No thank you.

I was on the news once making an idiot of myself. It appeared on the 11 pm news, the 6 am news, the 6 pm news and again on the 11 pm news. In other words, everybody I knew saw it and called me. A total stranger in the elevator said, "Hey, I saw you on the news last night!"

I finally lived it down.
... you can literally be on TV for 30 seconds, ..and people you've not heard of for years will have seen you, it's a very strange phenomena

Just once, about 10 (?) years ago. I forgot I made a vow never to be named on TV or online. A new business was opening near me and it was an 'adult' type shop. Across the street from it 2 businesses were complaining and clutching their pearls in distress.

I happened to walk by and was asked to be interviewed by a news crew. Must have been a slow day. I agreed, because I once owned a similar business (tho mine was much classier), was across the street from a large Catholic church and they didn't clutch their pearls (not often, anyway). So, CBS local news was pleased they finally found someone who didn't mind, and had a background story. I gave them my name(!) as well as my face, plugged my former business.

When I saw it on the news, with my name printed under my face, I thought oh no, what did my ego make me do? I googled me and there I was, on CBS local, grinning like a fool. It was online for weeks.

I did get phone calls from folks who knew me & that was fun, but I retook my vow never to have my name & face together online or on TV again. Especially the online part of it.

I have never been on TV but my husband and I have been in various newspapers and on YouTube to do with our dancing. Not really interviewed just pictures and names. However many years ago there was a company that defrauded many people out of money including us. My husband was interviewed about it for the local news. He did not come across too well...maybe he was nervous. Of course, a lot of friends said "we saw you on the news". He said never again.
