A professional dog walker has warned owners to be careful after a beloved pet became very ill after eating a meth addict's poo while out on a walk. The dog, Sid, who is described as a 'large breed' had been enjoying some exercise around South Norwood lake at the weekend.
But he became ill shortly afterwards and his owners were shocked to discover his symptoms were caused by ingesting human poo.
The faeces had contained meth, a vet had told the dog owners, and their dog was reacting to the illegal drug.
The client said: 'Just wanted to let you know that Sid spent the night at the vet as he ate some poo round by the glade near the lake yesterday.
'Vet said he's pretty sure the poo came from someone who takes meth so my poor boy was not in a great way. He's OK now but he's lucky he's a big dog.'
The dog walker said: 'One of my clients large breed dog ate some poo yesterday from around South Norwood lake that contained some meth.
He issued a stark warning to dog owners in the area as although Sid has pulled through, the infection could have been fatal for a smaller breed.
'Had this been a small dog, the dog would have died instantly.
'Please be very vigilant walking your dogs around Norwood lakes as the fisherman etc... regularly use the wooded area as a toilet.'
