Your Car registration number?

Take a picture and take a picture of the VIN number just below the windshield on the.drivers side. For insurance purposes.
Many thanks, we have pictures of our plates on both of our cellphones, but it never occurred to me to take a picture of the VIN number.
You win my prize for most useful information of the day. Potentially this could be very important when dealing with insurance or law enforcement.

Your insurance company will have the registration number on file. If the car is stolen and burned beyond recognition, there is a plate with the VIN on the engine. The plate under the left side of the windshield is for the convenience of the repairman and the police officer. There will always be 17 digits and/or letters in a VIN.

Since I got a new plate number with my new car in March, I have not committed it to memory yet. Though I can recognize it in sight in a parking lot. Taking a picture of the plate is a good idea. Helpfull if asked fir it (ie if car stolen)

I don't know the current one, but GLW562 was on the car I had in California 60 years ago.

My wife had a tag with "MUMSY" on her MG years ago here in Florida.

In the UK, it's currently 2 letters for the district / city, 2 numbers for the year and 3 random letters. There were various other schemes in the past.
It is sometimes possible to make a word form the letter / number. These plates can command a lot of money. Most rude combinations were not issued, but there ones like PEN15 out there  and a local driving instructor has a car with the number plate
PAN1C :D
