Your character

grahamg

Old codger
The following was written by a "professional" about the character of someone I know quite well.

Sensitive
Easily hurt, can feel rightly resentful at times
Can feel argumentative
Would enjoy being in control of life
Very intelligent
Can be talkative
Likes to take an actve part in life
Can be up and down in temperament
Caring
Could work well with others
Could solve problems
Family minded
Does not think enough of self
Likes to know where money goes
Could organise if need be
Needs own space
Could enjoy travel, descriptive books and discussions
Sometimes is trying to please others when they need to be understood themselves
Needs space for self
Qualities of leadership
Can be considerate
Unrealistic at times
Would make a good actor, orator or megalomaniac
Desire to distinguish self from others

I am puzzled also. Assessment seemed overgeneralised... Hmmm. Didn't really approve of the megalomania reference. I can't imagine including that in any diagnosis unless I was convinced the person was severely disturbed. Not very professional. One

of the most pivotal things I learned during my training was that any diagnosis said as much, if not more, about the professional delivering it than the client/patient on the receiving end. Lotsa peeps with control issues in the
mental health professions.

These are some of the "ingredients" of every human being; our 'character' is made up of varying amounts of most of these ingredients.

That analysis sounds like it came from an online questionnaire...like a "who are you?" meme. It's interesting to me that most of the words/phrases others use to describe me (when pressed) are 180 degrees out from how I see myself.

I wanted to be vague

It's unclear in what way you want forum members to participate here with your topic. I'd also suggest using a more descriptive title.

Dear All,
I hope you dont mind BUT I wanted to be a bit vague, and continue to wish to be coy for now :p

I did consider a better title or a more descriptive title, although limiting people isn't always that necessary, confining them or desiring anything in particular from anyone responding - so possibly a title of "Here is a description, compiled by a professional, about someone I know well, for you to admire , and if you like tell anyone interested any knowledge you might have on personality/character of yourself or others" - it doesn't seem quite so catchy to me though

I'm not saying take it all totally seriously really, it is lighthearted as I see it, and I did notice the "megalomaniac" description too (is that often called "Hitler tendencies?").

On the other forum I use I did get one very negative response, a new member said: "Total rubbish" as a response and left it at that would you believe, so you can't please everyone. One day I may come back as I say and bore everyone with all the details requested possibly, unless you get there yourselves first - Falcon is close, though my lack of effort on my profile is laziness really

I will tell you all though that it is not a description of Donald J. Trump, president elect of the great United States of America ;)

Maybe you should have posted this on the Games Forum then.

Things can be fun without the need to nit pick input.

I thought an explanation would come along at some point but meanwhile I chose to pick out my character in the choices provided.

I'll have a go at mine ably assisted by my wife. Here goes!

Thick skinned, sometimes comes close to physical violence to penetrate.
Won't argue because won't even consider there could be a different opinion.
Control freak.
Too stupid to realise how stupid he is.
Only talks when HE wants, otherwise ignores me.
Lazy to the extent of making it his raisen d'etre
Temperament depends on blood alcohol level
Totally selfish
Impossible to work with or even near
Throws money at problems
Should never have got married, especially not to me
Totally self centred to the point of being narcissistic
Where money is concerned he's tight as a albatross's sphincter.
Couldn't organise a p*ss up in a brewery
Does what he wants wherever he wants
Enjoys what HE wants when HE wants and where HE wants
Doesn't give a stuff about others or their feelings
Considers no one but himself EVER
If people want to follow him then that's entirely their choice

If he'd done the washing up tonight I might have moderated my views BUT HE DIDN'T!

Obviously, you are totally incorrigible and your wife is a saint! Lol.

Apologies to jeannine

LOL! You wanna see silly an' boring?

Just follow my wanderings!

Apologies to jeannine and of course you are quite right, I am silly, or must be, though some recently appear to be taking me seriously.

Luckily Aeron and Knight not doing so, and by chance I do seem to have started something.c:cool:

Not following the Santa comment but that only goes to further show how silly I must be, sorry.

I hope Aeron realises what a wonderful woman he's got there and does everything he can to hold on to her, especially as she'll do the dishes by default too (and is incredibly funny, "what a woman").

We've been married for forty years plus a few months.

I told her once that I remembered our wedding day as if it was yesterday.

"I wish it was tomorrow" she muttered "I wouldn't bl**dy go".

That was when that particular fight started!

Re-Santa - I'll ask him or her

Yep, downright silly, but I can be patient as well as nit picky... Santa, well now I am being vague

Dear Jeannine,
thank you for your reply and I like your coyness over Santa, but I have the solution - I'll just ask him/her
