Your Dream Room?

If you could create a room just for you. A space that you could customize and decorate to the last detail...what would it look like? What would you do there? Some people are lucky enough to have such a room already. A workshop or sewing area, a home office or art studio, a library or meditation area. Our house is big and old but all the rooms are occupied with every day activities.

But I was just imagining for fun...a reading room. It would be big enough for a bookshelf or three. A coffee maker and mini fridge. Blue walls and a super fluffy carpet in maybe lavender. Sound-proofed so the sounds of TV and conversation elsewhere in the house was muted. Ever since I was a kid I loved curling up on the floor with a pile of books in front of me. There would be no critters allowed except by invitation. No clouds of fur or pee in the carpet. The walls would be covered in favorite pictures and posters. Oh and sandalwood and patchouli in the air. No windows though, the sun fades pictures and books n' seeing a rainy day is kind of depressing...so ventilation but no windows.

So describe your ideal space:)

I'd like a meditation room.

All white walls and thick soft white carpet. A 3 foot tall statue of a meditating Buddha. A few plants. A few zen-related photos and one of Thich Nhat Hanh. A softly cushioned seiza bench. A small waterfountain feature. One wall all glass overlooking the ocean and white sand beach. Stereo for playing chanting or music.

That sounds beautiful...so soothing.

Something else I'd add to my room is lighting, maybe two Tiffany lamps to be pretty then some serious reading lights too. Our house is such a mishmash of lighting you either squint with 40 watts or sear your eyes with 100.

I'd also like a mediation room, but mine would be in shades of blue with French windows all along one side looking out upon the backyard's sweeping greenlawns which borders a forest. I'd have mostly large poufy cushions on the floors to relax upon and yoga mats on the floor. I'd have a tv and dvd player so I could pop in a yoga video and do some stretches if I feel like it.

Plus, I'd like a library with leather furniture as soft as butter and shelves lining the walls to almost the ceiling. I'd have a window seat in there too just because it's cozy and I've always wanted one.
