Your Most Memorable Camping Trip: Where/Why

The U.S. Army. We called it 'Going to the field'. Bad weather, bad living conditions sometimes, hard work and little sleep. Depending where we went it could be great. I slept in tents and motel rooms. But sometimes it was unforgettable adventure.

Tents? What are these tents you speak of? :)

Hard to pick a most memorable...
My 1st memory of camping was with my aunt, uncle and cousins.... I was 5 and it POURED.... the tent collapsed, big ex army canvas tent. Also got Dog bit on the butt and had to go to the Drs.
1985 took my girlfriend camping in my old boy scout Pup tent.... She and I just got back yesterday from camping at the beach, many many more between those dates. We lived in a canvas tent on a trailer for 3 months when we 1st moved to NC. Spent 7 years living in a 5th wheel camper while we rebuilt the house we bought,
My Mother still camps @82 and we have had many 4 generation camping trips...

The most memorable was at Little Molas Lake campground at Molas Pass, Colorado. I had been there before by myself. Then I took my 8 year old granddaughter there. At that time, it was a small camping area with no amenities. I just now looked it up and it appears they have done a lot of upgrading since then.

Anyhow, the Colorado Trail runs right through it. We walked a part of it. Backpackers would stop there overnight. We met an older man and his grown son on the trail. I told them that if I were ten years younger, I would do that. A bit later, as we were climbing up a hill to the campsite, my GD asked me if I could wish for anything, what would it be. I thought about it for a few minutes and said, "I don't know. I have everything I need and I'm happy with my life." She replied, "Grandma, you could wish to be ten years younger." I stopped dead in my tracks, turned around and looked at this young girl, wondering where she acquired such wisdom at her age.
