Howdoo,

I'd like to get a pocket-size game player that has the popular games such as Draw Poker, Monopoly, Hearts, and Slot Machine.

I don't want it to include a cell phone, because I'm not into that culture.

A camera wouldn't be necessary either, because I have one of those new cameras that doesn't use film, and can take up to 100 pictures!

Would I have too install those "app" things to get the games I want?

Thanks,
HiDesertHal

I don't know how much you want to spend but the first thing that popped into my mind was buying the cheapest Amazon Fire tablets available. You can buy one for around $50 and there are many of those games available in the Amazon marketplace. Yes, you would have to install the games but it is easy to do.

Your best bet if you want something small is a cell phone that's not hooked up to a network.

Someone must have one around they are no longer using.

They can download the games you want on it and give it to you by inserting their sim card.

Then all you have is basically a game player. Without the sim card you can't use it as a cell phone.

I have an old one since I upgraded. The games are still on it.

Some games you have to be online. Don't take those. Take the ones that are stand alone even if you are not hooked up to a network.

One more thing. Try a pawn shop. You never know what you will find in a pawn shop. Best place in the world to browse around.

I checked further into it and couldn't really find any particular unit you are looking for. There are pocket type games that allow you to play single games on them (poker, solitaire, slots, etc) but nothing simple which has more than one game preloaded on it. Hopefully someone else knows of such a unit !

I agree with the suggestion of an Amazon Fire tablet, or a Kindle. You can then download games of your choice from the Amazon Game store. I would say that most , if not all, of the games you want would be free. Plus you would have internet access. I husband just got the Fire tablet and loves it. He gave me his old Kindle.

Yes, Aunt Bea...I know that is a deck of Playing Cards.

I've known that for 81 years.

I have Playing Cards as well as Monopoly, Scrabble, Checkers, Chess, Balderdash, and other games at home, but what I want is a pocket-size player that I can use for playing these games.

Comprende?
Muchas Gracias, Senora,

I've changed my mind.

I have a Draw Poker game that I've been using for years, but it just deals me a hand and asks me if I want to hold 'em or draw new cards. All I get from the game is a built-up score, until it runs out to zero.

A pair of Jacks or better gives me 5 points.
2 pair gives me 10 points.
3 of a Kind gives me 15 points.
A Straight gives me 20 points
A Flush gives me 25 points.
A Full House gives me 40 points.
4 of a Kind gives me 125 points.
A Straight Flush gives me 250 points. (I got one once!)
A Royal Flush gives me 5000 points.

But this is all passive.

I would like to have a Draw Poker game with the Device as my Opponent, where I can Ante, Bet, Check, Raise, and Call.

That would be more like real play!
